Dollar, Gold Mixed in European Trading
The U.S. dollar was mixed against other major currencies in European trading Friday. Gold prices also were mixed.
Banks, oils knock Europe stocks
LONDON, England (Reuters) — European shares fell on Monday as financial stocks were hit by worries facing subprime mortgage lenders in the United States and with a lower oil price weighing on energy stocks.
Reasons to be Dollar Bearish: Sub-Prime, Halliburton, Retail Sales
US Dollar Even though there was no US data released today, the market had plenty of reasons to be bearish the US dollar. First, shares of New Century Financial were suspended for trading this morning, raising concerns that the company may have no choice but to file for bankruptcy.
Dollar Higher, Gold Up in Europe
The U.S. dollar was higher against other major currencies in European trading Thursday. Gold prices also rose. The euro traded at $1.3118, down from $1.3182 late Wednesday in New York.
